Americas Army: Special Forced Due Out Tomorrow!

Heads up, Soldiers! This just in from higher HQ: the long-awaited update to AA:O (v2.0) is expected to debut tomorrow. This new version, codename "AA:SF (SFAS)", is bursting at the seams with new features.

This version introduces a new character class: Special Forces (MOS 18-series). This MOS isn't for the faint at heart, gang. To even be considered for qualification, you need to have a minimum honor of 15 and have successfully completed all Basic Training and Airborne School missions. Next, you'll need to complete the 2 SF training missions: Aircraft, Vehicle, and Weapon Identification (SF AVWID) and Escape and Evasion (SF E&E). Then, and only then, will you qualify to participate as a Special Forces Soldier in our 4 new multiplayer maps: SF Combat Search and Rescue, SF Recon, SF Hospital, and Pipeline SF.

But there's much more in this new release, to include the following:
- New weapons (including the SOPMOD M4 carbine, with almost a dozen interchangeable, customizable components)
- New OPFOR weapons (the AKS-74U; the OPFOR equivalent to the M4 mod)
- New indigenous weapons (including the RPG-7 Rocket Propelled Grenade)
- 3D ironsights
- In-game IRC chat client
- Andromeda: SCI's new comprehensive server browser/authentication system/statistics reporting server system

Again, be advised: tomorrow's release is for the windows client software version of AA:SF (SFAS) (v2.0) only. Higher HQ indicates that we can expect the Mac and Linux versions at a later date.

The new authorization system has now been activated. We realize that during this massive transfer and merge of data, a few player accounts may have been altered or are missing from the database. We are dedicated to getting these accounts fixed as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

If your account is inaccurate or you do not think it is in the new auth database, please email here and we will update your account as soon as we possibly can - brokenaccount@americasarmy.com - Please include your account username, password, and your email address that you signed up with (or your current email address). Also, let us know what you think is inaccurate with your account.

We will be verifying that what you are told us in the email is accurate with your old account in the old auth database - so do not try to falsify any of your old account information. We will be updating player accounts manually, so please be patient. Feel free to create a new account in the time being. We apologize for any inconveniences this has caused our players.

For all of you facing problems with the new acount management and authentication system: Please read the following statement by Bacchus (Armydev)

**ATTENTION**

As most of you know, we have migrated to a new Authentication system. We apologize for the temporary disruption in services. This interruption was, unfortunately, a necessary by-product of upgrading our authentication service. Our thanks in advance for your understanding and patience.

Once services are restored, many of you will get an error when you attempt to login ("Error: Unknown"). This error message is expected. Your account has probably expired. The fix? A one-time re-authentication. And here's how you do it:

1. Goto login.americasarmy.com.
2. Select the appropriate link (NOTE: for most , you will need to select "Expired account".)
3. On the next page, type in your username & email address that you used to register your account. Press "OK". You will receive a temporary password via email. Use this temporary password, return to login.americasarmy.com and choose the "Change Password" link.
4. That's it! Change your password -- and go play!

New AA Website Up

This afternoon the official America's Army revised website went online. The forums are down at the moment and the website is still being uploaded, so portions of the site are not accessible. Abraxas mentioned in IRC today:

Attention: The new web site is up, but it is still being adjusted and the final touches put on it. 2.0 itself is still not available and will not be released today. We expect it to be ready very soon though.

New Honor Table

Some changes to the Honor System in Americas Army 2.0!

...Everyone gets affected by this new honor table the exact same.

For instance in the old honor table 100 honor was 915,000 experience - now it takes 1,850,000 experience. The higher your honor is, the more drastic this change will be for you. If you were 70, you will go to 68 - if you were 60 you will go to 59. But please remember you still have the same amount of experience, it will just take longer to level up at higher honor levels. We just spread out the higher honor levels apart from each other more...
